Judge Jorgensen has joined the Blick Law team after serving over 15 years as a Superior Court Judge in Middlesex County.  He spent his entire judicial career in the Family Division, concentrating on matrimonial dissolutions, custody, support, and domestic violence.  Recognized for his expertise in the field of family law, the Judge is a frequent lecturer in continuing education courses, including at the annual Judicial College for the New Jersey Judiciary.  His reputation among both attorneys and litigants is that of an even-handed and fair jurist. He brings all of those skills to his mediation and arbitration work.

Judge Jorgensen graduated summa cum laude from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a bachelor’s degree in history.  In 1981 he graduated with his Juris Doctorate Degree from the Villanova University School of Law.  He also earned a master’s degree in military history – Civil War Concentration from American Military University in 1999.  Prior to coming onto the bench, he was a general practice lawyer in Iselin, New Jersey.  The Judge was an associate with Foley & Gazi (1981 - 1985), a partner with Foley, Gazi & Jorgensen (1985 – 1993), managing partner in Jorgensen & Barnes (1993 – 2007), and in solo practice as The Jorgensen Law Firm (2007 – 2008).  He served as Woodbridge Township Municipal Court Judge from 1993 – 2008, South Plainfield Municipal Court Judge from 2001 – 2008, and Presiding Judge Municipal Courts, Middlesex County Vicinage from 2001 – 2008.

Judge Jorgensen is one of the three founders of the Aldona Appleton Family Law Inn of Court and continues to serve as president of that organization. He is a past Trustee of the Middlesex County Bar Association.  He has gladly served as a moderator and presenter on many bar related courses, as well as contributing several articles to the Association’s monthly newsletters.  The Judge is an appointed member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Judicial Education as well as the New Jersey Supreme Court Historical Committee.

A two-time First Team All-County basketball player in high school, he remains his school’s all-time leading scorer.  A four-year starter on his college’s basketball team, the Judge scored over 1,000 points and was a two-time University Division I Academic All-American Basketball player.  He is a member of the FDU Hall of Fame and the recipient of the Pinnacle Award, Fairleigh Dickinson’s highest alumni achievement award.

While the law is Judge Jorgensen’s vocation, history is his avocation.  His interests there have focused on the American Civil War in general, and the Battle of Gettysburg in particular.  He has authored five books on that battle.  His Gettysburg’s Bloody Wheatfield captured a national award as the best new book on the battle in 2002.  He enjoys giving walking and biking tours at Gettysburg for friends and family.

Judge Jorgensen is admitted to the Bar of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the United States Supreme Court.
